Powder Puff Football Returns!

After last year’s cancellation of the event due to weather, everyone at Thunder Ridge High School was thrilled to see a beautiful, sunny day for the annual powder puff football game. The game was held on the afternoon of Friday, October 2, following the downtown Homecoming festivities. KAYS sponsored the event.

Team Blue players were Casandra Gibson, Raini Hrabe, Kylie Reimer, Saige Kirchhoff, Trinity Coomes, Gianna Hoersdig, Kamryn Rietzke and Starla Cochrun. They were coached by Owen Hrabe and Kaleb Wagenblast.

Team Silver players were Mya Hoersdig, Madelyn Davis, Jadeyn Bice, Maycee Westbrook, Kristal Rice, Susana Jovel Torres, Jordyn Vales, Toree Slavik, Sydni Rust and Samara Bapat. The coaches were Olin Brown and Daxton Dunlap.

Cheerleaders were Dylan Bice, Josh Ferguson, Austin Barnes, Jace Randall, Dalton Bice, Mason Baker, JaShawn Dodds, Max Loyd and Alex Keshmiry. They provided cheers, stunting and even a kickline to cheer the players on.

Game officials were Mark Ferguson, Seth Brown and Jonny Burger. Jacob Barnes provided the play-by -play with Caleb Dodds assisting. Edgar Banuelos Galicia operated the score clock.

After a tough defensive battle for over half of the game, the Blue Team scored on a pass from Saige Kirchhoff to Starla Cochrun. The two point conversion was good with Blue taking the lead 8-0. Team Silver marched toward their goal but time elapsed before they were able to score. Congratulations to the winning team and thank you to all who participated!
