KAYS and Lions Work Together
Veterans Day is a time to honor those who have proudly served and currently serve our country. It is also a time to follow their example and serve others in any way possible. Teaching the importance of service, Lions and KAYS work together with the youth and delivered the Veterans Day meal to those who struggle to get out. The lions gather names of those needing a helping hand, and the KAY members pack and deliver the meals. Together, they proudly serve their community!

Kensington Lions Pancake Feed
The Kensington Lions Club held its annual pancake feed this past Sunday following the Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday. They served breakfast to around 200 people during the 6:00am-1:00pm feed. Thanks to everyone who came and supported the club! We’re happy to serve the community!!

St. John Youth Pack Shoeboxes
Each year, the Sunday school kids at St John Lutheran Church work together to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, through Samaritan's Purse. This is a project the group has done for many years.
With the help of Thrivent Action Dollars, donations, and bargain shopping, the group purchased enough supplies to pack 84 shoeboxes!
The kids held a bake sale to help with shipping costs. Through this sale and some generous donors, shipping will also be sent with the boxes, which is $9 a box.
The boxes will be taken to the TFC office in Phillipsburg on the 24th so there’s time to add to the boxes. Drop them off at the church, and we’ll deliver them for you!!

Thunder Ridge Calendar Events
Wishing the Longhorns Football team the best of luck this Friday as they travel to Hutchinson for Sectionals. Game starts at 6:00pm and so schools will dismiss at 1:00pm. Please plan accordingly for your children Friday afternoon. Good Luck Longhorns!

NPL All League Volleyball
NPL ALL League Volleyball honors were awarded to Brennan Kirchhoff and Jaden Boden, both chosen for 1st team, and Iva Rust chosen for 2nd team. These three girls get to play in the Nebraska TVL and Kansas NPL ALL STAR games to be played in June. Thunder Ridge Coach Alison Cole was selected to coach the NPL team.
Kensington Senior-Community Center
The monthly potluck was held Thursday, October 31st, on Halloween night. There were 12 men and women who attended. We all enjoyed the wide variety of food. We played pinochle after the potluck as we welcomed the children and their parents for trick-or-treating. Children in costumes dropped in for the assortment of candy we had available. We all enjoyed seeing the many children who came to visit. Thank you to the parents and kids for making our evening special also.
Our next potluck will be Tuesday, November 19th at 6:00pm. We hope you will join us for an evening of fellowship and games.
Kensington Community/School Library
Thank you to all who came out and supported our Fall Scholastic Book Fair. We are so thankful for the opportunity to place books into the hands and homes of so many children. ‘Findings published in the journal Social Science Research show that raising a child in a home filled with books positively impacts her future, academic growth, and job attainment. Specifically, as Pacific Standard reported, the study found that when it comes to standardized tests, “Regardless of how many books the family already has, each addition to the home library helps children do better.” That makes sense: A book-filled home encourages a culture of reading for enjoyment and talking about books.’ -from the Scholastic Parents article written by Jodie Rodriguez.
