Sub-State Champs!

Congratulations to the Lady Longhorns on another Sub-State Championship. The Class 1A Sub-State Tournament was played at Wakeeney-Trego Community High School. This past Thursday night, February 28, they earned a 49-40 win over Otis-Bison which lead them to play again Saturday, March 2. The ladies faced the undefeated team from Golden Plains and games were moved up due to weather concerns. Victory was claimed 47-33 over Golden Plains, so the ladies will now travel to Dodge City for the state tournament. They are scheduled to play Wednesday night, March 6, at 8:15pm versus Coldwater South Central.

Congrats to the ladies and their coaches on your regional championship, sub-state championship and wishing you all Best of Luck at State!!

How to Help Others

Are you a member of Thivent? If you’re not sure, ask yourself, “Do I have an insurance policy or financial investments with Thrivent?” If you are a member (or think you are) I hope you’re taking advantage of the opportunity to help others with the help of Thrivent Action Money. Members are allotted $250/twice a year to use as “seed money” to help organize a project or help fund an activity to bring people together to impact the lives of others.

Here’s how it works. Google “Thrivent Financial”, and you will see Thrivent Financial-Official Site, with the option below saying Thrivent Action Teams. By clicking on “Thrivent Action Teams” you will be taken to a page that has the option of TAKE ACTION, apply now. Simply click on apply now and log in or create an account, which is on the bottom of the page under “Not Registered? Register for account access,” which will allow you to create a username and password to access your accounts online as well as apply for action money. Once you’re registered, you log in and begin answering the questions that describe the project you’d like to use your Action Dollars used for.

Project dates must not be closer than 2 weeks of applying. You may apply anytime sooner, just not less than 2 weeks from your project date. You need to give them time to process your request, accept you, and mail you a starter kit which has your debit card with $250 on it, along with any materials you requested (like flyers, t-shirts, posters)

Projects need to be a group project, ideas that bring people together to work as a team for a common goal. Examples are: to purchase food for a fundraiser or community dinner where many people serve and work together, supplies to do a group project (like my mat making project), supplies for the quilting ladies who work together to make quilts to give away. The possibilities are endless. Be creative!

Once money is spent and project date has passed, you log back on and report on how it went. Every Thrivent member is eligible for two $250 action projects per calendar year! If you have questions, please contact Robin Billings, and she can get you started.

Weekly Inspiration

Apologizing does not always mean you're wrong and the other person is right. It just means you value your relationship more than your ego.

As you get older, you really just want to be surrounded by good people. People that are good for you, good to you, and good for your soul.

Life is beautiful, one day, one hour and one minute will not come again in your life. Avoid fights, anger, hatred, be kind to everyone and thank God for everything.
