K-TOWN KATES
November 8, 2021
The K-town Kates met Monday November 8, 2021 at the Kensington Senior Citizens. Twelve members answered the roll call naming their favorite movie.
Minutes of the September and October meetings were read and declared approved.
The Treasurer’s report was given. The report was declared approved.
Georgetta reported on the food pantry and several generous donations of money and food. The “Block the Door” at Thunder Ridge High School resulting in food and paper products donations will be December 10. Volunteers will be needed to process these donations. Christmas gifts for the December 18 food pantry was discussed. Loretta moved and Joyce seconded to give bacon from the Kensington Locker along with apples and oranges purchased from the Kensington Community Store. Donna J. will coordinate the purchases.
The Christmas Party for members and guests will be Sunday, December 12, 2021 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Kensington Senior Citizens. 3rd Street Bakery will cater the event providing the main meal. Desserts will be provided by Doris, Deb B., and Barb; Appetizers by Loretta, Donna J., and JoLynn; and Punch by Joyce and Georgetta. Committee members Janet, Barb, Lorretta, and Joann will contact the people not present at the meeting and take care of other details. A $10 gift exchange will occur for members and guests who want to participate.
After adjourning, a soup supper was hosted by Irene and Ijean with members donating the food.
FOOD PANTRY: The additional workers for the November 20th food pantry will be Loretta and Deb. The additional workers for the December 18 food pantry will be the officers Donna W., Doris, Donna J., Deb B.
K-TOWN KATES CHRISTMAS PARTY
DECEMBER 12, 2021
K-town Kates hosted the annual Christmas Party for 15 members and 7 guests attending on December 12, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Kensington Senior Citizens. The delicious meal was provided by 3rd Street Bakery with appetizers, punch, and desserts provided by the members. The Christmas committee comprised of Janet, Barb, Loretta, and Joann coordinated set up, party favors, the games played, and the gift exchange. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas season.
FOOD PANTRY: The food pantry will be open January 21st, the 3rd Saturday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00. Additional workers will be Donna J. and Joann.
American Legion in Kensington
Meeting: Thursday, January 6, will be the regular monthly meetings for the American Legion starting at 7:30pm.
Menu: This week at the Kensington American Legion we will have Taco Soup and our special will be Chicken-and-Dressing, creamy cucumbers, peas, and dessert. We will have our regular menu items as well. Our kitchen is open from 6-8pm and you can call us at 785-476-3204 to make your supper orders to-go. We look forward to having you!
Kensington Library News
Regular library hours resumed on Monday, January 3. We are open 8am to 7pm Mondays; 8am to 4pm Tuesday through Friday; and Saturdays are 9am to 2pm. Reminder that we do follow the USD 110 district in the occurrence of delays or closures due to bad weather.
Please feel welcome to attend the next meeting of the local book club to be held at the library on Saturday, January 8th, at 9am. There will be a special zoom with Katie Powmer, author of “Sowing Season” and “A Flicker of Light”. This author event is open to the public.
