All-Star Game
Raini Hrabe and Madelyn Davis competed in the 6th Annual TVC/NPL State Line Volleyball All-Star Game on Friday. The Northern Plains League won in 5 sets, defeating the Twin Valley Conference of Nebraska for the first time in the six years the game has been held.
Busy Bees Outreach Project
“A person’s most useful asset is not the head full of knowledge, but the heart full of love, an ear to listen, and a hand willing to help.”
Youth of the Jewell County 4-H Council devised a plan to help each 4-H club in our district, which consists of Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Osborne, and Smith counties, to identify elderly citizens in their local communities. All 4-H clubs from these counties were challenged to prepare personalized care packages and reach out to the elders to let them know 4-H is here for and thinking of them during these difficult times.
Sunday afternoon, June 13, the Busy Bees packed 13 reusable grocery bags with a fruit mixture, mini loaves of banana bread, a gift certificate to the Kensington Community Store, and a handmade card. Bags were delivered to 9 individuals and 4 couples here in Kensington.
VBS was a Hit!
The Community Bible School theme was “Mystery Island” this year, and it was a BLAST! The kids uncovered some mysteries about God. They learned that it’s not such a mystery that God is the greatest; the most trustworthy, and his love is never failing! The kids memorized Bible verses, learned great new songs, and the older kids mastered the bells while singing good ole hymns!
St. John Lutheran hosted 11, 4-6th graders. The United Church had 12-14, 1-3rd graders each day, and First St John had 21 little ones. The program was held the last day at the United Church, and the kids’ offerings were given to the Kensington food pantry.
