January 2018 School Board Recognition Month
The job of a school board member is tough, the hours are long and the thanks are few and far between. It is all too easy to put off saying “thank you” to this group of individuals who work tirelessly on behalf of our children and grandchildren. They spend countless hours preparing to make decisions, participating in meetings and attending school activities and events. The locally elected school board is deeply rooted in U.S. tradition, as is public education. Our state has a proud tradition of support for public education, and in fact in 1966 the people of Kansas amended our state’s constitution to specifically call for local public schools that are ‘maintained, developed and operated by locally elected boards.’
The Kansas Association of School Boards has designated January 2018 as “School Board Recognition Month.” Thunder Ridge USD 110 faculty and staff would like to encourage that you take the time to express appreciation to these seven remarkable individuals: President Rex Lowe, Vice President Darin McDowell; Members: Amber Beach Hardacre, Todd Slavik, Kirby Shaw; New members: Tracy Atchison, and Mitch Miller.
At the December 11 BOE meeting, Board of Education President Rex Lowe presented outgoing Board Member Tiffany Rietzke with a plaque in appreciation for her four years of service to USD #110. The district also expressed their appreciation to outgoing Board Member Kelly Bretton for her four years of service. Kelly’s plaque will be presented to her at a later date.
Fred Marran Post #166 Veterans are proud to still be serving since 1919. We welcome those who are eligible to join our Legion Family.
The Friday Night Special (January 5th) to start the new year will be ham loaf, homemade macaroni and cheese, glazed carrots, and a dinner roll with honey butter. We will have our regular menu items as well. Kitchen hours are 6 -8:30pm and 785.476.3204 is our phone number for carry-out orders. We appreciate everyone’s support this past year and look forward to serving you in the new year.

Don't judge what people do, until you know what they’ve been through.
Life is so ironic. It takes sadness to know happiness, noise to appreciate silence, and absence to value presence.
Don’t forget to Thank God for keeping you safe through the night and every time you awaken to see a beautiful new day.<
