Fun at OFSN

Winners of the Boat Races included 1st place- Adam Abbott, 2nd place- Connor Engelke, 3rd place- Konner Wagenblast. Most creative boat winner was Kale Engelke.

The 2018 Yard Olympics Games were a success. There were 26 teams competing and $200 was donated to the Sons of the American Legion. Congratulations to Don Dodds and Justin Bretton as they were overall champions and Polish Horseshoe winners. Brandon and Trevor Engelke won bags, and newcomers Danielle Riley and Shaylin Webb won ladder golf.

Kiddie Parade categories included: Best Theme, Best Group, Best Bicycle, Best Pet, and American Spirit. The winners of those categories were: Sydney Powell as Best Theme; “Superheros” group of Jace & West Bruns with Kyla Vrbas for Best Group; Adam Abbott won Best Bicycle, Bryson Krueger won Best Pet, “Next Generation” group including Connor & Kale Engelke, Tate & Mack Foreman, Hayden & Mason Dettmer, Lexi & Barrett Bienhoff, Sawyer Levin, and Ada Synoground for American Spirit.

Parade winners can pick up their $5.00 gift card at the Corner Corral.

Serving Roast Pork, Party Potatoes, Green Beans, a roll and dessert. *This is the only event where you can order new Longhorn apparel for this year. Quilting Speaker on Monday, Aug. 27

The Kensington Community/School Library in Kensington will host “Sharing Patterns, Sharing Lives: Kansas Quilts,” a presentation and discussion by Deborah Divine on Monday, August 27 at 5:30pm at our library. Members of the community are invited to attend this free program. Contact the Erica Barnes at 785-476-2219(library) or 476-8185(cell) for more information. The program is made possible by Humanities Kansas.

Quilting Guild members and quilting ladies of the community are specially invited to join us, but others who enjoy quilting are also welcome! Monday, August 27th at 5:30pm.

American Legion

Friday Night Special, August 24, serving from 6:00-8:30pm. This week at the American Legion our special Friday night will be chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes, cockpit corn, and layered lettuce salad. Craw for dessert we'll have apple pie with or without ice cream. Now that school had started back, we will be open an hour after the home football games. We will have soup, hamburgers and fries. We'd love to have you join us for an after game meal. Please call us to save a table or to make your meals to go at 785.476.3204. We have gift certificates available for any amount for our Friday evening meals. We wish all the area students, teachers, and parents a wonderful school year!
