Grandparents Day at TRES
On Friday, September 7, the Thunder Ridge Elementary School held their annual Grandparents/Grand-friends Day. Each year, the elementary hosts a lunch for grandparents or special friends to come visit the classrooms, eat lunch with their grandchildren, and then go to lunch recess with the kids. Some kids are fortunate enough to have grandparents who live close enough to come for the day. Other students had special family friends or even a parent join them for lunch. All together, we had 51 special visitors for the event. The guests arrive at 10:30, and each grade does something special prior to lunch. Some prepare a program of poems and songs; some do a craft together; while others share about what they're currently learning in school. The kids LOVE showing off their rooms and having a special someone eat lunch with them! The staff at Thunder Ridge look forward to having guests in the building as well to show the community how blessed we are to have such a close knit group of students and adults. Everyone looks forward to it each new school year!
