KTOWN KATES
The January 11, 2021 meeting of the Ktown Kates was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Melissa Westbrook presented the program “Chalk Couture,” a company that features an arts and crafts hobby that she and her mother participate in for home use or to sell. It features a silk screening process that can be used on wood, fabric, glass or other surfaces using chalk paint or ink paint. Melissa stenciled on a wine bottle to demonstrate the ease of use, and displayed many of her charming country themed projects.
Ten members answered roll call naming “something you have never done.”
With much regret, the December Christmas Party/meeting had been cancelled due to the spike in Covid 19 cases in the area.
The November 9, 2020 minutes were read. A treasurer’s report was given. The reports were declared approved. A floral gift had been sent to Janet Hoverson’s family for her funeral. Janet had been a faithful member of Ktown Kates for many years. She will be missed.
Georgetta reported that many generous monetary and food donations had been made to the food pantry. Contributors included individuals, couples, churches, organizations, and businesses including a matching fund effort. Gratitude was expressed by the members that with everyone’s effort, the local food pantry will be able to continue in the same manner serving the patrons that live in the local school district which include the towns of Agra, Athol, Kensington, and Kirwin. Georgetta reported that 14 family and single units participated in the December Food Pantry. The additional workers for the JANUARY 16, 2021 food pantry (the 3rd Saturday of the Month) held at the Kensington Senior Citizen’s Building will be JoLinn and Donna J.
Loretta reported that she had contacted Ruby Weihman regarding the Annual Spring Tea. Ruby will present the program involving a virtual tour of her home country, South Africa. The tea will be a salad luncheon on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 6:00.
The next meeting will be February 8. Valentine Bingo will be played and members are to bring prospective members as guests. Members are asked to bring 3 - $1.00 gifts as prizes.
The March meeting will be a tour at the Kensington Locker on March 8 at 7:00 p.m. with meeting to follow.
Appreciation was expressed to Deb L. for making the yearly booklets for each member.
The meeting adjourned and delicious cookies homemade by Carmen were served by JoLinn.
Commodities Delivery
Commodities will be delivered in Kensington on Monday January 25 for those who qualify. Pick up is at the Senior Center between 4:00 and 5:00pm, unless otherwise notified. For more information or questions, call Mike or Beccy Isom, 785-476-8182.

Kensington Library News
For the winter months we are open until 6:00pm on Monday nights. We are open from 8:00am to 4:00pm Tuesday through Friday and still open Saturdays from 9:00am to 2:00pm. We do offer curbside assistance for those needing to social distance. Give us a call at 785-476-2219 for book requests and to schedule a pickup.
