Jill Nech, Daughter of Joan Nech, was honored this weekend at Bethany College.

Nech is BC 2021 Hall of Honor Inductee

Congratulations to Jill Nech on her induction to the Bethany College Athletic Hall of Honor. The inductees were introduced during halftime of the Homecoming/Hyllningfest football game on Saturday, October 9. The ceremony honoring inductees took place Sunday, October 10, 2021, in Lindquist Hall.

The Bethany College Athletic Hall of Honor gives recognition to individuals whose performance on the athletic field during their time at Bethany was noteworthy and exemplary of the high standards for which Bethany College has historically been known. The individual selected shall have been a former student-athlete or letter winner, a former coach, or an individual who was significantly involved in Bethany College Athletics. For student-athletes, the last year of participation in athletics shall have been at least 8 years before the selection into the Hall of Honor. Selection for membership shall be determined by the quality and caliber of athletic performance and by the individual’s contribution to the team concept of athletic endeavor through leadership as cited by the coaches and teammates involved.

Jill Nech, 2004, came to Bethany in 2000 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in health and physical education. She played 4 years of basketball for the Swedes, and also competed in track and field from 2000-2001. Nech earned basketball All-KCAC honors as a sophomore, juniors, and senior. Her senior year, Nech led the KCAC in scoring and field goal percentage. On the KCAC All-Time Records, Nech tied for second for total rebounds in a game (22); third for season field goal percentage (61.8%) in 2001-2002, and seventh for season field goal percentage (59.9%) in 2003-2004.

2002-2003 was a banner year for the Swedes. Bethany went 30-3, ended the season 2nd in the country, and had a 25-game winning streak. Nech was named 2nd Team All-American as a junior, and Honorable Mention All-American as a senior.

Nech is in her 18th year of teaching. She has taught physical education in Hugoton, Pratt, and Dighton, Kansas. She was also an Assistant Principal/Activities Director at Dighton for two years. Currently, Nech is a 5-9 special education teacher at Liberty Middle School in Pratt, Ks. A collection box can be found at the Kensington Community Store or contact a Busy Bee family and we will gladly stop by to visit. The Busy Bees 4-H Club is always looking for ways to help our community. Please contact leaders Marlene Nelson 785-614-1149 or Erica Barnes 785-476-8185 and let us know what we can do for you.

Weekly Inspirations

The cycle ends with me. I won’t hold grudges or seek revenge on people who have hurt me. I don’t wish bad on them or hope karma gets them. I forgive them. I pray for them. I send positive thoughts. Let’s set an example. Let’s be the example. Let’s change the world through granting grace, choosing kindness, and BEING the change we wish to see in the world.
