Mark Your Calendars for the Centennial Celebration of the Athol Community Hall on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm
A special program and gathering is planned for Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm to celebrate the recognition of the Athol Community Hall. Anyone with Athol ties is invited to attend. The program will include special music, speakers, refreshments and recognition of the history of this community building that has provided a gathering place for public events to be celebrated in Athol for the past 100 years.
Five Years ago, ElDean Holthus, with the support of the Athol City Council, submitted an application with the Cultural Resources Division of the State Historic Office to have the Athol Community Hall placed on the Register of Kansas Historical Places. The first application was not accepted, but ElDean persevered with more additions to his first application and in June of this year, the application was approved to be included on the Register. The next step was for ElDean to nominate the hall for the National Register of Historic Places and that application was approved in August 2025. This special selection for the Kansas and National Register of Historic places coincides with the 100th anniversary of the building of the Athol Community Hall in 1925.
Sunday, November 9 ,2025 at 2:00 pm will be the special program to recognize the Hall and those who saved it. Come for the program and open house following 2-4 pm and you can enjoy seeing the community hall and also view the ONLY Pierce Arrow fire truck in the world. Hope to see you at Athol Community Hall on November 9 at 2:00 pm.
