Soup Luncheon Fundraiser
Please plan to join us on Sunday, October 19, at the American Legion in Kensington for a soup luncheon supporting the Kensington Community Store. Free will donations are greatly appreciated. There is a sign-up sheet at the store for soup, relish tray items, and desserts. Please consider contributing food items, volunteering your time to help, and coming to eat. Also, please remember our grocery store is community owned. Your support makes all the difference!
KAY Pink Out Is October 17
“Pink out the stands" is a call to action for sports fans to wear the color pink to a game to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, honor survivors, and support those affected by the disease. Thunder Ridge KAY chose the 17th to be the pink-out home game this year. All donations collected will be given in support to Bobbi Basart this year as she battles breast cancer.

Friday Night at the Legion
Every Friday we serve a special for $11, dessert for $4, and a salad or soup of the night.
Open from 6-8pm, we offer dine-in or carry-out meals. Our kitchen operates mostly off of volunteer help and one paid waitress, so some nights we may be short on help. Also, many times we have a packed house! So please be patient with us as we serve you. You can always call in at 476-3204, and wait times may vary.
Kensington Library
October 5-11 is Banned Books Week. “Censorship is so 1984.” Read for your rights and never take for granted your freedom to read.
You are welcome to come and join us for Trunk-or-Treat! Inviting local businesses, organizations, and any rural living individuals to come and help us celebrate Halloween by setting up for a Trunk-or-Treat in the library parking lot on Friday, October 31. Please contact Erica Barnes at the library if you would like to participate; 785-476-2219.
We are open Monday 8am-7pm, Tuesday through Thursday 8am-4pm, and Friday will be 8am-3pm with the 2:30 early dismissal. Saturday is 9am-2pm as usual.
ATTENTION!
The Spirit Task Force is scheduling a work night at 6:00pm, October 13th, at the Memory Garden. We’re not only asking individuals but organizations to help with some projects. STF will provide food to workers. An alternative weather date will be October 15th. Any questions call 476-5095 or 476-5418. Just a reminder that it takes many helping hands to maintain the appearance of our downtown. Hope we have a good showing to lighten the work time.
Weekly Inspiration
They asked, "Why is it important to be kind?" I said, "Because you never know who's grieving, exhausted, or barely holding on. Your kindness might be the only softness they feel today."
