Soles4Souls Project
The Thunder Ridge KAY is doing a clothing and shoe drive again this year for their world service project through Souls4Souls. They will be collecting gently used clothing and shoes through December 5. Drop off boxes are at all the local churches, all three school buildings, and the community store.
This organization uses the donated items to provide inventory to people in impoverished countries. This allows individuals to create a business that can provide an income for them, which will intern better their lives long-term.
All items will be shipped free of charge to souls for souls. Last year, the KAY group shipped off an entire pick up bed full of items. Please donate items if you can! The students enjoy helping people in their school, community, country, and world!

Operation Christmas Child
Each year, St John Lutheran Church participates in Operation Christmas Child project which is a project created by Franklin Graham that asks people to pack a shoebox full of Christmas gifts for children around the world. Boxes can include things like hygiene items, living supplies like bowls and cups, toys, books, crayons, and so much more. The youth at St. John’s look forward to it each year! They understand that many of these boxes are shared by an entire household!
One example of this was shared by a man who received a shoe box many years ago and now pastors in Sharon Springs. He remembers how his mom had told him long ago that there may not be enough boxes for everyone, and that he may not get one. He remembers praying that God would provide one more box so he could have one. Well, God made sure this little boy got one! Now this is part of his story as he shares his experience of getting a shoe box years ago. So never underestimate the impact of doing a shoebox! Never say, “Oh, what difference can one box make?” The power of “one more” is profound!
St. John’s boxes were delivered to Phillipsburg TFC this past week. The kids packed 90 and another congregational member packed one more. That one “more box” had a resounding AMEN after hearing about that man’s story from TFC’s helper, Janice Lundquist. The TFC office had received over 1,000 OCC boxes as of last Sunday.
