Colorful Changes on Main Street 

Spirit Task Force worked very hard Sunday afternoon, August 11th, and made great progress on the Memory Flower Garden. Thanks to everyone who helped out! We certainly couldn’t have done it without the guys helping out.



Finally caught Robin Billings in action! She’s usually the one behind the camera and always a great help too. Also Judy Bates, not afraid to get dirty. 


Kensington’s Annual Old Fashioned Saturday Night 

Sponsored by the Kensington Commercial/Community Club, this years Old Fashioned Saturday Night is on Saturday, August 17, and all are welcome to attend. Starting at 8:00am with the 5K Color Run, games and activities, a car show in the afternoon, and running into the night with a street dance after dark, with all sorts of fun in between! 

Schedule of events:

8:00am - 5K Color Run sponsored by TRHS Sapphire Dancers 

9:00am - Pasture Golf organized by Jeff Nech; 2 person teams; $10/person; Prizes will be given by SALS; Location will be SE of Leonard and Genny Rahjes. 

1:00pm - Yard Games 

2:00pm - Swim Fest and Contests at the Kensington Swimming Pool 

3:00-8:00pm - Inflatables (2 available for different age play) $5 wrist band allows all unlimited play; Sign up sheet for supervision and workers will be available.

4:00-8:00pm - Car Show Don Dodds and Justin Bretton organizing; $10 per vehicle; call 785-476-8044 or 785-476-7040 to enter; Prizes awarded. 

5:00pm- SALS beer garden opens 

6:30pm - Kiddie Parade; This year’s theme is Cardboard Box Cars; Prizes will be given to top 3.

FOOD VENDORS/Booths to open after kiddie parade. 

8:00 pm - Local Entertainment begins; Little Girl Dance Camp performances; MS & HS Cheer & Sapphire Dance Performances; Steele Drums

EGG TOSS CONTEST to follow.

9:00pm-Midnight STREET DANCE -Whiskey River Band 

Join us in Kensington, “The Biggest Little Town of its Size” on Saturday, August 17th, for loads of fun!

End of summer Kensington Pool hours 

School starts soon, but the pool will stay open awhile longer! Hours will be adjusted some. Wednesday the 14th the pool will close at 6:00pm. Thursday August 15th and Friday 16th hours are 4-6:00pm after school. And Saturday August 17th will be Swimfest starting at 2:00pm during Old Fashioned Saturday Night. 

Back to School Bash

Join us Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the Kensington American Legion from 11am-1pm. Serving Roast Pork, Party Potatoes, Green Beans, Roll & Dessert.

TR Apparel will be available to purchase at this event ONLY! *Orders must be prepaid.

Important Dates for Thunder Ridge Families

Mark your calendars as you will not want to miss these events!

August 14th from 5-6:00pm is Open House at TRES for K through 3rd grades and also at the TRMS for 4 through 6th grades. Bring your school supplies and meet your teachers!

August 15th is the first (full) day of school for all Thunder Ridge students.

August 17th is Old Fashioned Saturday Night.

August 25th is the Back to School Bash at the American Legion. 

August 28th is School Picture Day.

Food Pantry

The Kensington Food Pantry serves the Thunder Ridge School District area on the 3rd Saturday of each month. This month the pantry will be open August 17th from 1:00-3:00pm at the Kensington Community Center. Contact 785-476-2278 with any questions.
