Come Help Make Mats
Mat Makers will meet Tuesday, July 7, from noon to 4:00, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington. We make sleeping mats from plastic bags. Twenty-four mats were taken to the Orphan Grain Train in Phillipsburg two weeks ago. Three more mats are ready to go after we met last Thursday! That's a total of 80 mats that have been delivered to the homeless since we began making them a year and a half ago. If you can flatten a bag, cut, or tie a knot, you have the skills we are looking for! (Crocheters are also useful too!) Join us for all or part of the time!! If July 7th doesn't work to come and help, continue to look for times that work for you because the days and times we meet in the summer months vary. If you have any questions, contact Robin Billings.
Dawn Meyer is nearly done with a sleeping mat.
Robin Billings crochets while Dianne Conn ties strips to make the plarn (plastic yarn).
Lions Club Get A New Member
Kensington Lions Club held their monthly meeting later in the month due to all the social distancing restrictions. They hadn't been able to meet since March. However, they finally got to meet again on June 22 and installed Pastor Robert Sinclair as a new member of the club. The club will meet again on August 31, at 7:00, at the Senior Center. If anyone is interested in joining the club, please contact any member of Lions so you can attend our meeting in August! Come see what Lions is all about!
New member Bob Sinclair, his sponsor Darold Grauerholz, and president Greg Billings.
