Brats/ Bells/Beverages 3.0

Join us Sunday, September 24 at 6:00pm as the St. John’s Bell Choir presents their 3rd Annual Brats/Bells/Beverages event located at the St. John Lutheran Church (north) in the parish hall. This special event is a fundraiser for the church’s new mission project: Crossroads Center Rescue Mission of Kearney and Hastings, Nebraska. Come enjoy a great night of food, fellowship, and fun! There will be performances by the St. John’s Lutheran Bell Choir, Girls of Grace, and new this year, the B.C. Drill Team. Free will donations will be collected with all proceeds given to the Crossroads Center Rescue Mission.  We hope you can join us for great fun and fellowship this Sunday, Sept. 24 at 6:00pm in the north Lutheran church parish hall. A Little Southern Taste for a BIG Cause

September 10 was the official kick-off of St. John Lutheran Church's Mission Project for the next year. Each year the church votes on an organization or project to support. After choosing an organization, the church begins raising money to donate and also volunteers their time and effort throughout the year by completing hands-on projects for the chosen organization.

This year's organization is Crossroads Rescue Mission based out of Kearney and Hastings, Nebraska. This organization provides shelter, meals, and God's word to homeless families in the area. It is a faith based group so it doesn't receive any government funding. It relies solely on gifts and donations to keep their doors open.

Their director, Jerry Bumgardner, spoke to St. John's congregation after worship last Sunday. Following his presentation, a wonderful Mardi Gras meal was served. Authentic New Orleans food was prepared by Genny Rahjes, Liz Hainke, Mary Struckhoff, and Bill Winters...

Serving New Orleans Cuisine

Come enjoy some New Orleans Cuisine on Sunday, September 10, at the St. John Lutheran (north) Church. From 11:30am until everyone if full or the food is gone, whichever comes first! Serving Gumbo, bread pudding with lemon sauce, calas, and Doberge cake. The free will donation proceeds will be given to the church’s new mission project supporting Crossroads Rescue Mission of Kearney and Grand Island. Join us at the St. John Lutheran church (north) in Kensington this Sunday, September 10th for some tasty New Orleans Cuisine! We will start serving at 11:30am.

Thunder Ridge School News

TRHS & TRMS Upcoming Games

TR Middle School has first games of the season Thursday, August 31st. Away to Rock Hills in Mankato, starting with volleyball at 4:00pm and football to follow at 6:00pm.  Next Thursday, Sept. 7, TRMS travels to play Pike Valley in Scandia.

Lady Longhorns will hold a volleyball triangular in Kensington this Thursday the 31st versus Plainville and Palco. Come out to support the Ladies Longhorns at home! They play again on Tuesday, September 5, at Rock Hills in Mankato in a Tri versus Rock Hills and Osborne. On Saturday, Sept. 9 the ladies travel to Miltonvale for a tournament.

Get ready for some Longhorn Football! The first game of the season is at home in Kensington this Friday night, September 1st starting at7:00pm.  Come on out to cheer on the Longhorns as they go up against the Osborne Bulldogs. Next Friday the 8th they travel to play Pike Valley at Scandia.
