TRHS Graduation

Class of 2018 Class motto: “Our lives are before us, our past is behind us, and our memories are forever within us.” Class flower the White Lily and Class Colors were Royal Blue and Silver.

Congrats to the graduating class of 2018. Your future holds endless possibilities!

The Thunder Ridge Senior High Commencement Ceremony took place Sunday afternoon, May 6th at 3:00pm in the Thunder Ridge High School gymnasium. Twelve students graduated but only 11 were present to walk the stage and receive their congratulations: Justis Bapat, Brayden Brenneman, Cassidy Gillespie, Kelli Glennemeier, Seth Loyd, Lillie Massey, Bruce Massey, Tyler McReynolds, Kennedy Rietzke, Brock Wallgren, and Morgan Westbrook. Foreign exchange student Javier “Kiko” Moreno Ortega, who had been residing with the Hendryx family, had already made his voyage back home to Spain.

Mrs, Kristi Reneberg played the processional and Pastor Dave Hutson delivered the invocation. Principal and Superintendent Mr. Jeff Yoxall introduced the Salutatorian, Kennedy Rietzke, and Valedictorian, Morgan Westbrook, who each gave their speech. A multimedia presentation was played while the Class of 2018 gave white lily flowers and recognition to their parents. Mr. Yoxall then presented the graduating class. Diplomas were handed by board member Mr. Darin McDowell and tassel moved by Mr. Yoxall as Mr. Wiens announced each student. Class sponsors Brooke McDowell and Sarah Molzahn then conducted the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony. Benediction was given by Pastor Dave Hutson and the recessional played.

TRMS 8th Grade Promotion

Monday evening, May 7th, 22 young ladies and gents were recognized for their educational accomplishments and promoted on to high school. Those promoted include: Dustin Bisnette, TyLynn Blank, Ashley Bouchard, Olin Brown, Jonathan Burger, Liam Corbett, Daxton Dunlap, Mariana Escobar Orellana, Paul Ferguson, Abigail Hardacre, Cameron Hendryx, Owen Hrabe, Spencer Kearn, Saige Kirchhoff, Leland McGuire, Bayleigh Morgan, Justin Murdoch, JaCea Reece, Kristal Rice, Jaden Stauffer, Susana Torres Jovel, and Jordyn Vales.

College Accomplishment

Melissa {Nonamaker} Treinen received her Masters Degree diploma Saturday, May 12th at Fort Hays State University in Human Health Performance. Her parents Gary and Amber Nonamaker are proud that she has joined her sister Renee in achieving this goal in their college education. Melissa and her husband Tyler currently reside in Hays where she teaches in Hays Middle School and also enjoys coaching volleyball and track and field.

KHS & TRHS Alumni

The annual Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, May 26th at the American Legion in Kensington. Hopefully you received your official invitation in the mail. You can also find information on the alumni Facebook page: Kensington Alumni. This year we recognize the years ending in 8 and 3, but all KHS and TRHS alumni are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Memorial Day Services

Sunday, May 27, the American Legion Post #166 will hold services at the following cemeteries: Claudell at 9:00am, Cedar at 9:30am, Gaylord at 10:15am, Athol Lutheran at 10:45am, Pleasant View Cemetery at 11:15am, St. John Lutheran (Kensington) at 11:45am, Olive Branch (Kensington) at 1:00pm, Stone Cemetery at 1:45pm and Germantown at 2:15pm.

American Legion

This week at the American Legion we will be serving delicious shredded chicken gravy over whipped mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and pink strawberry fruit salad. For dessert we'll have banana cream pie. Well be more than happy to reserve a table for you and your family and friends or to make your supper to go. Just call us at 785.476.3204

Kensington Swimming Pool Info

The pool is scheduled to open this Friday, May 18th at 1:30pm. Come early for water games and water balloon fights at 1:00pm. The first swim team practice is May 30th at noon. Practices are Mon/Wed/Fri and meets held on Saturdays. Call Amy Abbott at 720-384-7776 to sign-up for swim team or if you have any questions. Also, swimming lessons will begin June 11. Kensington Library News

Summer library hours are: Monday 2-8pm; Tuesday through Saturday 9am-2pm. Our reading program theme this summer is Libraries Rock! Grades pre-K to 2nd grade will come on Tuesdays from 1-2pm and grades 3rd to 5th on Thursdays from 1-2pm. Grades are according to the 17-18 school year. These programs will begin the first week in June. Contact Erica at the library anytime at 785-476-2219.
