The K-Town Kates met March 13, 2023 at the Kensington Community Center at 7:00 p.m.

Sally Brandon from Shephard’s Studio located in Phillipsburg, Kansas, presented the program about her business and the steps her life had taken where she eventually showcased her “Joy Collection” of apparel during Fashion Week Runway in Kansas City. The Kansas City area is trying to revive its once thriving clothing industry. Sally shared her life story including participation in the International 4-H exchange program to Finland, and how she eventually became an artist working with wools especially Alpaca and blends of other fibers, selling spinning wheels, and operating a spinning mill for customers for 18 years for people across the country. She eventually sold her Shephard’s Mill equipment intact to a Kansas customer who is now in operation. Sally now operates Shephard’s Studio in Phillipsburg Kansas. Her business is open during the week and besides her apparel, she offers various classes including knitting, lace, and other hand work. Members from the club were given the privilege to model her apparel accented with handmade jewelry. A delicious St Patrick’s dessert provided by Donna W. and JoAnn was served before the meeting commenced. Roll call was answered by 12 members answering if they have any Irish ancestry. The previous minutes were read and approved as was the treasurer's report. The March Food Pantry report was given. April’s food pantry date will be the normal 3rd Saturday, April 15 with Irene and Ijean being the additional helpers. Barbara shared that the mystery tour scheduled for May will be Saturday, June 3. After discussion, the mystery tour will be considered the June meeting and the May meeting was canceled. The Annual Spring Tea/Salad Luncheon will be Monday, April 10, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington. Members are encouraged to bring guests. All members are asked to help set up that Monday at 10:30 a.m. The next meeting will be the Mystery Tour on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Meeting adjourned.
