Crocheters Needed Become part of the Miracle Mat Makers and help the members of St. John Lutheran Church complete their projects of making plastic mats for the homeless. This summer, the high school Sunday school class has been cutting up plastic shopping bags into strips to be crocheted into mats to be given to homeless shelters. The church learned about this project from Smith Center FCCLA members. After learning that half a million people are homeless, and 1/45 are children averaging 9 years old, we knew we needed to take action. Other crazy facts were that it takes 700-1,000 years for plastic bags to decompose. The church quickly decided that they needed to join the efforts to help the homeless and help preserve our environment. Everyone has tons of plastic bags around, and It takes about 2,000 bags to make one 3'X6' mat so we are needing your help. Crocheters are needed from the whole community and surrounding area. If you would like to join our Miracle Mat Makers team, please contact Robin Billings at 476-2692. If you don't know how to crochet but would like to learn, join the team and do just that. We have people willing to teach you! After we get several volunteers, we will schedule a time to get together and organize our crocheting! Please consider being part of our team and help those in need! Weekly Inspiration The truth doesn't cost anything, but a lie could cost you everything. To protect your energy... It's okay to cancel a commitment. It's okay to not answer a call. It's okay to change your mind. It's okay to want to be alone. It's okay to take a day off. It's okay to do nothing. It's okay to speak. It's okay to let go. ISO NEWS Your news is important to us. Send your stories and information to Erica Barnes at ebarnes8185@gmail.com with subject line: NEWS.
