TRHS Hosts Mini-Cheerleader Camp
Twenty-seven energetic, future cheerleaders attended the Thunder Ridge High School Mini-Cheer Camp the morning of Saturday, January 26. The gym was full of smiles, giggles and spirit as girls aged preschool through 5th grade learned cheers, played games, crafted, and practiced kicks and jumps. Attending were: Preschoolers – Jenna Molzahn, Carmen Koch, Harbor Tweedy, Tamzlyn Hunter, Jeweliana Ferguson; Kindergartners – Jorgia Wiehman, Destyni Coomes, Kassie Wagenblast, Zoey Hadley, Cora Eller; 1st graders – Emma Cole, Breckyn McDowell, Dani Holling, Gracyn Ritter, Becca Epple; 3rd graders – Cadynce Jensen, Addison Molzahn, Lexi Rust; 4th grade – Jasmine Ferguson, Hannah Nelson, Nevaeh Wilson, Leanka van der Linden, Jocelyn Ritter, Jasmine Gordon-Stone; 5th graders – April Webb, Gracie Rice, Peyton Chestnut. The girls will perform on Tuesday, February 5th at the half-time of the Thunder Ridge vs. Franklin Boys Varsity Basketball game. The 2018-19 TRHS cheerleaders are: Raegan Boden, Destiny Shook, Brittany Atchison, Jaden Boden, Ivy Corbett, Maycee Westbrook, JaCea Reece and Kristal Rice.

Raffle will Support the Veteran's Community Project
The quilters and blanket tying ladies of St. John Lutheran Church are having a raffle of several different hand-made items to raise money for the church's mission project, Veteran's Community Project. Among the items are: a 98" X 98" quilt, a 62" x 68" afghan, a 52" x 69" Fort Hays fleece throw, a 59" x 65" K-State fleece throw, and a 47" x 17" winter table runner. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. The drawing will be Sunday, February 24. Tickets are for all items. Winners will be notified by phone so need not be present to win. American Legion
Serving every Friday night from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. The menu for February 1: This week at the American Legion we will be having bierock casserole, macaroni & cheese, creamed peas. Our soup will be green bean dumpling with a ham salad sandwich. Our dessert will be old fashioned pound cake. We'll have our regular menu items as well. We'd love to cook you supper to go be calling 785-476-3204. Hope you can join us after a cold weather week.
K-town Kates Meeting
The K-town Kates held their monthly meeting on Monday, January 14, at the Community Center. Roll call was answered by 12 members and two guests by naming their favorite winter pastime. Many of the group selected staying in where it is warm and reading. Sewing was also one of the popular answers. Mary Lattin of Hays, a former Smith County native and historian, gave an interesting program on the trails that run through Kansas, especially Smith County, during the 1800’s.
President Barbara Grauerholz called the business meeting to order. Secretary Donna Westbrook read the minutes from the November meeting. Treasurer Donna Johnson gave her report. Georgetta Kinyon reported on the food pantry. The food pantry has received many generous donations for 2018. Discussion was held on having dues. It was moved and seconded to have $10 for our dues this year. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned. Carmen Rice and Janet Hoverson served refreshments.
Community Center Annual Meeting
The annual meeting for the Kensington Community Center was held Thursday, January 17 at 12:30pm with 20 members present. Carmen Rice called the meeting to order. Secretary Diann Hrabe read the minutes from last years meeting. Georgetta Kinyon presented the treasurer's report. Cynthia Wahl gave the nutrition project report. She said the Center served an average of 231 meals a month for the 2018 year. This is down a little from last year.
Election of officers was held. Steve Rice, Diann Hrabe and Donna Westbrook were re-elected to the board for 2019. No other business was conducted. Carmen declared the meeting adjourned.
Pro-Ag Annual Meeting
The 66th annual meeting of Pro-Ag Marketing Assn, Inc. was held on Monday, January 21 at the Kensington American Legion. A dinner of chili soup, relishes and cinnamon rolls was prepared and served by the Rusty Tractor. Chairman Kerry Ferguson called the meeting to order. Secretary Don Grauerholz declared a quorum with 47 voting members present and also read the minutes of last years meeting. Brian Mapel of Lindburg Vogel gave the audit report. Sam Scofield gave his report. Drawing for prizes concluded the meeting.
